Bettina Bakdal graduated from the Danish Royal Academy of Design in Copenhagen in 1996. Since then, she has worked with sustainability in mind. Everything, from the first idea to the process and production, takes place in her own studio in the heart of Copenhagen. Bettina works with vintage materials such as dresses, scarves, tablecloths and shirts. For the past ten years, she has focused especially on dresses made from vintage silk scarves. All her dresses are one of a kind. They reflect her belief in aesthetic sustainability and in making clothes you want to keep for a long time. The dresses are designed for all ages and made to fit most sizes. She also uses deadstock silk and viscose from French and Italian fashion houses to complement the vintage materials she carefully finds at flea markets and second-hand shops on her travels. Bettina’s designs are guided by the idea of slow fashion. She creates beautiful dresses that are comfortable and unique, working artistically with patterns, prints and colours to give each simple dress its own expression. The idea is that each customer finds a garment that feels entirely their own. Every garment has a title and the date it was made.
